SSC JE 2019 Exam Pattern and Syllabus


SSC JE 2019 is conducted in 2 phases of Paper 1 and Paper 2.
Paper 1 is conducted online whereas paper 2 is conducted offline. The official notification for SSC JE 2019 has been free on the official web site. Paper-I are command from Sep 23 – 27, 2019 whereas Paper-II is scheduled  for December 29, 2019.

  • Paper 1 contains questions paper of 200 marks to be done in 2 hours of duration. 
  • There is also a negative marking of 1/4th. For every single correct answer, candidate will be awarded 1 mark and there is a deduction of 0.25 marks for incorrect response. 
  • Paper 1 consists of three sections of General Intelligence, General Awareness and General Engineering (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical).
  • Candidates who manage to clear paper 1 will only be eligible in paper 2. Paper 1 will act as a gateway for paper 2.
  • Paper 2 contains a question paper of 300 marks to be completed in 2 hours.
  • It contains the questions based on General Eng. (civil & structural), (Electrical) or (Mechanical) as per candidates choice.

SSC JE 2019 Exam Pattern in Detail 

SSC JE 2019 is conducted in two papers i.e. paper 1 and paper 2.  The type of question paper is objective type. Given below is the detailed pattern for paper 1 and paper 2 candidates should check.

Paper 1 

Paper 1 is conducted in an online mode i.e. computer based test. The type of question paper is objective i.e. MCQ based.
  • The duration for paper 1 is 2 hours and the question paper is of 200 marks.
  • For every single correct answer candidate will be awarded 1 mark. There is also a negative marking of 1/4th.
  • Candidates have to lose 0.25 marks for every incorrect response.
  • Paper 1 consist of 3 sections of General Intelligence, General Awareness and General Engineering (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical).
  • Section 1 and section 2 are compulsory for each candidate. In section 3 candidates have to make choice for the subject from Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
  • Section A and B consist of 50 marks each. This section checks the candidate’s ability and knowledge of general reasoning and awareness. Section C consist of 100 marks and checks candidate’s knowledge for the subject chosen from Civil/Mechanical/Electrical.

Paper 2 is conducted in an offline mode i.e. pen and paper mode. The type of question paper is multiple choice based.
  • The duration of exam is 2 hours i.e. from 2 pm to 4 pm.
  • Candidates have to attempt question paper of 300 marks in 2 hours.
  • Paper 2 is a conventional type exam, candidates have to choose the subject from Part A- General eng. (civil & structural), Part B- General eng. (Electrical) or Part C- General eng. (Mechanical).
